Presentation Description |
Description of Topic/Presentation: AI pilots are everywhere - but moving from experimentation to sustainable enterprise adoption is a much harder challenge. In this interactive fireside chat, healthcare technology executive Jim Thomas will explore what organizations need to get right before promising AI use cases can deliver trusted, scalable value. The conversation will examine why pilots stall; why data readiness and AI governance must advance together; how leaders can distinguish return on investment (ROI) from broader return on value (ROV); and what changes when AI moves from a contained pilot into enterprise operations. Drawing on Jim's healthcare and technology leadership experience, the discussion will also address cost and infrastructure implications, risk and trust in healthcare, workforce adoption, and the role project and program leaders can play in turning AI ambition into disciplined execution. This is an executive/practitioner-level conversation rather than a technical AI class, with audience interaction woven throughout What You Will Take Away: Attendees will leave with a practical framework for thinking about enterprise AI through three connected lenses:
1. Build the foundation: Data + Governance Understand why AI outcomes depend on trusted, well-understood data, clear stewardship, and purposeful governance. Learn why data governance and AI governance must work together - especially in healthcare environments where privacy, compliance, clinical risk, and accountability matter. 2. Choose for value: ROI, ROV + Strategic Alignment Look beyond AI FOMO and ask why a pilot should exist in the first place. Explore the distinction between measurable ROI and broader return on value (ROV), and how to prioritize initiatives that align with business outcomes - whether they help run, grow, or transform the organization. 3. Scale with discipline: Cost, Trust + Adoption Recognize what changes when AI moves beyond a pilot: compute, storage, licensing and token costs; platform AI versus third-party solutions; enterprise integration; workforce trust; and human adoption. Leave with practical questions project and program leaders can use to help organizations scale responsibly instead of simply scaling quickly. Conversation Flow Why AI pilots stall -> What changes at enterprise scale -> Data and AI governance -> ROI vs. ROV and portfolio choices -> Scale, cost, trust and human adoption -> Practical lessons for project and program leaders.
