Mission

The Academics Team is committed to inspire and empower tomorrow’s leaders with access to project management knowledge through collaboration with colleges around Orange County.

 

Vision

Facilitate academic outreach initiatives with faculty and students to provide valuable knowledge and skills to advance their career with excellence, integrity, and transformative impact in every project they undertake.

 

PMI-OC Academic Outreach provides higher education faculty and students in the greater Orange County area with access to tools, resources and opportunities to enrich their skills, experience and networks through chapter workshops, classes, certifications and events. The PMI-OC (Orange County) chapter encourages and supports members working on certifications and ongoing learning that inspires excellence and that are key to ongoing career development.  As a member you will:

 

  • Learn project management methodology including Agile and Predictive approaches and how they are applied to a broad spectrum of industries, business, careers and life.
  • Learn new trends such as how technology and tools are used in project management.
  • Receive support and access to local workshops for certifications such as CAPM®
    • The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification is designed for career starters to differentiate their skills and demonstrate job-readiness to employers. CAPM helps students stand out!
  • Build your network by attending workshops and events.
  • Develop interpersonal soft skills that help you in any setting.
  • Develop leadership skills.
  • Learn how important project management can be to the success of your future business.

PMI Annual Student Membership gives you:

PMI Student Group Memberships are available for 10 or more through an instructor.

PMI Student Bundle Membership includes CAPM Certification.

PMI-OC Chapter Annual Student Membership $35 as of 2024 plus prerequisite of PMI membership.

Orange County Chapter boasts over 1800 members, representing over 750 companies, placing us in the top 15% of all PMI chapters. There are many opportunities for growth and to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) to maintain certifications. Next Steps to start your project management journey:

  1. Learn more and visit PMI.ORG. You may choose to create a free account and complete the free PMI project management course KICKOFF. The course takes 45 minutes and once completed you will have a badge that you can share that shows you know the basics of project management!
  2. Join PMI and unlock your access to additional benefits and opportunities.

Visit PMI Student Membership or PMI Membership for non-students. Discounts also available for veterans or retirees. Once you have added the appropriate PMI Membership to your cart, select the North America, California, Orange County chapter by browsing the communities through the link at the bottom of the PMI Marketplace screen.

Once you have memberships you may access PMI-OC.ORG or PMI.ORG directly using the same login.
