Description of Topic/Presentation: This joint workshop with Caltech and PMI-OC’s Industry Affinity Groups is a primer for the Caltech Center for Technology & Management course “AI for Project Management: A Hands-On Learning Lab”, with Jen Garcia. Attendees will share their goals, needs, and experiences with peers, Caltech, and PMI-OC, while familiarizing with the latest trends in using AI for project management. Attendees who wish to enroll in the Caltech course may prepare at this workshop for an informed and successful experience with the course, while being eligible for a discount. The Caltech course teaches project managers how prompt engineering has evolved into more detailed project communication, with intent, context, and project intricacies. Attendees learn how to remain cognitively engaged, maximize their own contributions, and avoid risks that occur from over-reliance on a language model. This workshop provides an opportunity for prospective students to discuss problems and challenges in their job or industry, learn about the Caltech course, and chart a path toward problem solving using the course material. Caltech and PMI-OC staff will host the workshop in a virtual board room format, with discussion, problem solving, and coaching tailored to the course and the specific needs of the workshop attendees. PMI-OC members receive a 20% discount from Caltech on the cost of the course. Public attendees who complete the full workshop will receive a 10% discount on the cost of the course. If a public attendee joins PMI-OC before applying the discount to their course, then they will get the 20% PMI-OC member discount. The non-member discount expires 90 days after the workshop if not used to register for the Caltech course. Jen Garcia Speaker Bio: Jen Garcia
Jen García, PMP, advises and teaches AI programs at Caltech's Center for Technology and Management Education, where she designs and delivers AI fluency curriculum for non-technical professionals, including AI for Project Management: A Hands-On Learning Lab, the course this primer introduces. One principle runs through every session: exhaust your brain first, then turn to the LLM. Jen brings to AI fluency an engineer's discipline and an educator's understanding of how people learn. She studies the backend to teach the frontend well: three years of study in code and AI engineering, systems engineering as an INCOSE Associate Systems Engineering Professional, and ongoing research into how large language models work, how to communicate with them, where they are vulnerable, and how to verify and validate their output. An emerging engineer, she also holds the Project Management Professional and Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate credentials. Jen is also the founder of Ingrained.ai, where she trains professionals across business, education, government, and social impact to use AI tools with fluency and judgment. With nearly two decades in education and workforce development, she has trained thousands of people, including the Los Angeles County Management Council, DoorDash, Disney, and Northrop Grumman, and as AI Executive in Residence at the Goldhirsh Foundation she brought complimentary AI training to nonprofits and public agencies including the Los Angeles Fire Department. In October she hosts the Research Slam at the tenth annual MIT AI Conference.

Cancellation Policy
Reservations must be canceled no later than 10 pm PST two days prior to the event in order to receive a refund.
