2025 June PMI-OC Book Club Meeting - 1 PDU - VIRTUAL
“Extreme Ownership”
Author: Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
June 19, 2025
Presentation Description |
Description of Topic/Presentation: At this event, we all will discuss the book under selection, “Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. Through reading the book, we will learn about what the authors consider effective leadership skills and principles, how to develop those skills and principles, and how to use those skills and principles to promote high performance amongst our teams and projects. The title of the book refers to the authors’ time in combat as Navy SEAL leaders during the Iraq War and the strategies they took to succeed and the book also covers content in non-combat settings. This dovetails into project management because we, as project managers, commonly need to do what we can to encourage high performance for our teams and drive project success. We will use the meeting as a chance to discuss the validity and viability of their ideas of what is important to know about leadership in an organization and how that kind of leadership can be used by project managers to promote project and organizational success.
