Presentation Description |
Description of Topic/Presentation: In the 50s and 60s, when you bought a new car, it was customary to drive it for a month or so and then return it to the dealer with a punch list of 20 to 30 defects that needed fixing. The dealer of course expected that and gladly fixed all the bugs. Nowadays cars come with very few defects. So, what happened? What drove car manufacturers to produce higher quality cars? Surely it costs more to achieve that better quality? This session will answer questions regarding the shift in quality in some industries, can we have too much quality, what are the costs of quality and how to minimize those costs? We will explore how major companies might have different quality policies and why that is the case. We will dive into various quality control tools in an interactive manner that gets attendees involved in using quality control tools. Learning Objectives: 1. Understanding what quality actually is 2. Recognizing the significant importance of quality 3. Knowing when to stop 4. Working with quality control tools |
