Presentation Title:

Setting Expectations and Planning Communications for Project Managers

Goals (By the end of the presentation, the attendees will be able to):

  • Understand how to set project expectation on the scope, the timeline, and the deliverables throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Understand how to plan for additional communications with the project sponsors and key stakeholders outside of the regular project communication.

Presentation Topics:

  • Setting Expectations
  • Communication Planning: 1) Game of Telephone – Communication lost in translation, 2) Instructional drawing demonstration to show how expectations are being interpreted

Practice Exercises:

  • How to set project expectation on the scope, the timeline, and the deliverables throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • How to plan for additional communications with the project sponsors and key stakeholders outside of the regular project communication to ensure the project goals and objectives is and continues to meet the expectation of the project sponsors and the organization's goals.

Bio

Richard Lu

Richard Lu is senior professional with over 18 years of experience in program/project management and 28 years in technology with roles in business development, sales, consulting services, support, and engineering. Possess extensive experience in managing enterprise-scale projects that are large, complex and mission-critical. Proficient and experience in all aspects of project management from project initiation to closeout with the ability to apply creative, analytic, and critical thinking to planning and problem-solving.

In the last 28 years, Richard had experienced in wide range of diverse industries including oil and gas, distribution, banking, insurance, utilities, bio-pharma, healthcare, and government agencies. His strength is the interpersonal communication with strong analytical skill and experience to help others bridge the gap between the business and technologies. Additionally, he has skills in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Content Management, Business Process Management, Virtualization, Business Intelligence, and eDiscovery.

Richard has leveraged various project management methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, SDLC, Rapid Application Development, and Six-Sigma Green Belt certified.

Cancellation Policy

Reservations must be cancelled no later than 10 pm PST three days prior to the event in order to receive a refund.
