Presentation Description

Description of Topic/Presentation:

In this course, you will learn about the various facets of setting a Project Baseline, Updating and re-Baselining.  You will also get exposed to ES (Earned Schedule) Management through hands-on usage of the most advanced Project Management Tools and Techniques – the IMS (Integrated Master Schedule), the SRA (Schedule Risk Analysis) and automated ES Management.  ESM is a derivative offshoot of EV (Earned Value) Management.  You will learn Monitoring & Controlling concepts and theories that facilitate the appropriate updating of project plans which consider a proactive risk management.  By mastering these IMS, SRA and ES tools and techniques, you will enhance your team’s project performance and increase your credibility as a high caliber project manager and/or functional lead.

The hands-on experience requires having Microsoft Project (bring your laptops). Those without Microsoft Project can team up with those that do have it.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The Rationale and General Concepts behind effective Monitoring and Controlling a Project, and how the to keep the ever-increasing “Cost of Change” down – where “Cost” includes impacts to Schedule as well.
  2. The Rationale and General Concepts behind overall Project Earned Value/Schedule Management to enhance your team’s chances of meeting project commitments due to the implementation of proactive risk management via metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) considered Best Practices.
  3. Learning the Practical Application of baselining and updating your Project Plans when they encounter challenges that if ignored increase execution risk, through actual hands-on experience.
  4. Analyze and appropriately adjust the Project IMS (Integrated Master Schedule) Using MS Project® & Chrono™ (an innovative add-in to MS Project that eases the development, baselining, and updating of valid IMS’s and sets then up to readily integrate with other valuable tools and techniques).
  5. The concept of when it is appropriate to re-baseline a project plan and how to do so effectively (i.e., to get back to a reasonable % confidence in meeting project deliverables).
