PMO- Avoiding the PMO Meltdown

Goals (By the end of the presentation, the attendees will be able to):

Understand how to avoid a PMO meltdown

Presentation Topics:

  • This presentation engages all participants to utilize their experience resolving issues that arise at the PMO office.
  • Review of the following applications areas will be covered: Governing Documents, Risk Mitigation, Status Reporting, Capacity Planning and Balancing the Triple-Constraints.

Practice Exercises:

  • Attendees will be separate into groups and will be asked to stimulate a PMO environment. During the workshop, each group will be given a set of situations that they need to resolve and present their solution to the governing board.

Bio

Francisco T. Avalos

Seasoned and well-rounded Consultant Portfolio and Project Manager with proven success in Information Technology, Finance, Interactive, News Media Communication and Non­ Profit industries. Successful managing, directing, training and development people in a national and international basis with a proven track record.

Francisco T. Avalos is presently the Sr. Portfolio Manager for the Planning and Program Management Office at the Word and Brown Companies. Mr. Avalos provides leadership, continuous portfolio transformation, and portfolio management innovative oversight for the top division of the company.

Mr. Avalos primary responsibilities include overseeing the divisional Portfolio to ensure programs and projects adhere to governance and a defined execution plan with IT leadership to ensure divisional strategic and tactical goals are met. Mr. Avalos responsibilities also include IT Portfolio Budget Management, portfolio reporting, forecasting, resource capacity analysis, Program/Project Lifecycle oversight, and risk management.

Prior to joining the Word and Brown, Mr. Avalos spent 20 years in IT roles for professional corporations leading from an AVP at a top 15 bank, top 5 automotive companies, and an array of successfully delivering projects domestically and abroad with consulting experiences across health care, news media companies, financial institutions.

Cancellation Policy

Reservations must be cancelled no later than 10 pm PST three days prior to the event in order to receive a refund.
