Description

Presentation Title and Goals

Presentation Title:

  • How ancient day project management can help us with current day project management (history of Project Management)

Goals:

  • TBD

Presentation Topics:

  • The History of Project Management from the times of Ancient Egypt to Present Day Mega Projects.

Presentation will cover a visual presentation of project management development from the first pyramid in Egypt through modern mega projects in Europe, Asia and the USA.  We will discuss where and how the various tools of project management were developed  over this time. The History of Project Management is the history of the growth and spread of civilization and is tied to the history of language, mathematics and engineering.   Learning the history of a subject brings that subject to life and add a sense of both mystery and enlightenment to our profession.

Practice Exercises:

  • We will be using various simulations to illustrate how the key elements of project initiation and planning were developed on ancient projects and how to develop tools based on current needs and available technology.
