Presentation Title: Cyber-security for Project Managers

Goals: 

Apply PMBOK Risk Management Guidance to cyber-risk in order to more accurately assess, mitigate, and manage risks resulting from technology such as networks, internet, mobile devices, computers, etc.

Presentation Topics:

Define cyber-security and cyber-risks

Review PMBOK Risk Management guidance

Apply PMBOK Risk Management guidance to cyber-risks

Practice Exercise Descriptions: 

1.  Learn about cyber-risks through hands-on hacking including social engineering (phishing and trickery) and website hacking (tricking websites into revealing information)

2.  Teams review risk assessment by creating a Risk Assessment of physical home or office security (door locks, locked filing cabinets, etc)

3.  Teams brainstorm to develop a cyber-risk assessment following PMBOK guidance


 Bio

SD Nelson

S. D. Nelson is a computer security specialist with over 10 years experience.  Clients dubbed him "Nelson the Global Geek" for completing tech projects on-time and on-budget in Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, South America, and the USA.

As a PMP®, he leads teams from five to 100 with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $5 million.  He recently discovered new Russian phishing malware designed to steal Apple IDs and credit card information. From 2009-2015 he won Sciex "best team" awards and received customer endorsements for cyber-security of computers, networks, and pharmaceutical laboratory equipment.  Prior to that, he supported research into contingency planning for drones hacked in flight and security for the NASA Curiosity Mars Rover.  Microsoft and Bellagio also trusted him to safeguard web apps and databases.

He earned a Master of Science in Information Security and has teaches computer security in corporations and at Jiangsu University of Technology in China and Western Governor’s University in the USA.

Cancellation Policy
