As part of capturing PMI-OC’s history, this document records the key milestones for our chapter since its establishment.

  • October – Chapter Charter recognized (year of Orange County’s 100th anniversary)
  • Initial Milestones newsletter
  • Initial marketing brochure
  • Initial chapter logo (old PMI “target” graphic)
1991
  • Received PMI Chapter of the Year Award (1-4 Years)
1992
  • 1st PMP Prep Workshop
  • Received PMI Chapter of the Year Award (1-4 Years)
1994
  • Supporting local educational institutions with PM training
  • Received PMI Chapter 5-Year Milestone Award
1995
  • Received PMI Chapter of the Year Award (5+ Years)
1997
  • Received PMI Chapter of the Year Award (5+ Years)
  • Received 1997 Chapter President of the Year Award – Awarded to Marty Wartenberg
1998
  • Launched New chapter Logo incorporating PMI Global’s new standards (Component Box with PMI wordmark/logo)
1999
  • September – Established new Bylaws and Organization Structure (effective 1/1/00)
  • September – Established new Mission and Vision
  • September – Reached 500 Members
  • Incorporated Chapter
  • Received PMI Chapter 10-Year Milestone Award
  • 1st Formal Feedback Forms for Dinner Meetings
     

2000

  • August – Incorporated Chapter & Revised Bylaws
  • Received PMI ACP Opportunity Fund Award for Generous Contribution 
2001
  • March – Launch of VOM and VOY Programs
  • Mid – New Membership brochure
  • Sept – PMP Prep Workshop – Offered own 2nd session in Fall/Sept (separate from PMI-LA)
  • Received PMI Chapter Professional Development Award for Exceptional Activities
  • Launched Ambassador Program for Dinner Meetings
  • Begin accepting credit cards to pay for dinner meeting registrations
  • Launched New chapter Logo with changed Component Box contents (sunset, palm tree, grass and beach) and in color 
2002
  • January – Celebrated 200th PMP
  • February – 1st Breakfast Roundtable
  • March – Redesign of Milestones newsletter
  • September – 1st annual Membership Survey (web-based)
  • December – Reached 900 Members (specifically, 911 Members by 12/31/02)
  • Received 2002 Chapter President of the Year Award – Awarded to Cyndi Snyder
  • Helped launch PMI California Inland Empire Chapter
  • Redesigned web site
  • Redesigned Welcome brochure
  • Developed 1st formal Strategic Plan & revised informal Process 
2003
  • April – Reached 1,000 Members (specifically, 1,004 Members by 4/30/03)
  • Reached 300 PMPs in early 2003 (pre-June; 354 PMPs by 6/30/03)
  • December – Grew greater than PMI-LA in Member size (OC 1,098 and LA 1,076)
  • Revised and formalized Strategic Plan Process
  • Established Governance Committee 
2004
  • March – Awarded Wind River’s TAZ Project as PMI-OC 2003 Project of the Year
  • May – Launched 3rd PMP Prep Workshop Session (Summer session)
  • July – Reached 500 PMPs (specifically, 513 PMPs by 7/31/04)
  • September – Established new Bylaws and Organization Structure (effective 1/1/05)
  • October – Celebrated 15 Year Anniversary, same year as PMI’s 35th Anniversary
  • October – Launched New Chapter Logo with new Component Box contents (“OC” wordmark over simplified waves), logo approved by PMI on 9/22/04 
2005
  • January – Reached 1,300 Members (specifically, 1,322 Members by 1/31/05)
  • April – Awarded Askeland Engineering’s Nacra A2 Project as PMI-OC 2004 Project of the Year
  • April – Launched Executive Advisory Council seated by 3 local executives from SCORE/ECofOC organizations
  • July – Launched New Member/Volunteer Orientation Training seminars (MVOT), conducted every other month
  • August – Reached 1,500 Members (specifically, 1,524 Members by 8/31/05); welcomed 99 new members in August alone (more than double the 2004 monthly average)
  • August – Conducted chapter’s first one-day PM conference, PMInAction, on 8/13/06
  • August – Conducted special, large Dinner Meeting (Greg Balestrero, 250+ attendees)
  • September – Exceeded 800 PMPs (specifically, 853 Members by 9/30/05)
  • September – Implemented online tool for annual BOD elections
    October – Introduced new Chapter Purpose Statement: “Providing members quality professional development and networking opportunities”
  • December – Honored 3 new PMI-OC Fellows 
2006
  • February – Conducted first one-day Leadership Seminar for chapter volunteers on 2/24/06, with Jerry Brightman (from PMI Leadership Institute) as guest speaker
  • March – Submitted applications for PMI’s Professional Awards for Chapter of the Year, Volunteer Program, Collaboration, and Volunteer of the Year categories
  • March – Implemented formal criteria and improved process for recognizing “Volunteer of the Month” and “Volunteer of the Year” Awards
  • April – Awarded Hoag Memorial Hospital’s Sue and Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion Project as PMI-OC 2005 Project of the Year
    July – Conducted special large Dinner Meeting & Career Fair (250+ attendees)
  • August – Kicked off annual planning to develop a first-ever 3-Year Vision
  • September – Implemented online tool for annual BOD elections'
  • October – Received 3 PMI Professional awards at the North America Congress for our achievements in 2005: Chapter of the Year (Category III), Volunteer Program of the Year, and Component Collaboration Award
     
2007
  • January – Launched first PMI-OC Leadership Institute (OCLI) as a one-year program, based on the PMI Leadership Institute by Jerry Brightman
  • April – Awarded SCE SmartConnect AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Phase I Project as PMI-OC 2006 Project of the Year
  • May – Reached 1,700 Members (specifically, 1,708 Members by 5/31/07)
  • July – Conducted special large Dinner Meeting & Career Fair
    September – Implemented online tool for annual BOD elections
