Q: How often are dinner meetings held?
A: Dinner meetings are held each 2nd Tuesday of the month.  They cover various topics and themes throughout the year, and represent excellent networking opportunities.

 Q: Is there a deadline for online registration?
A: Online registration is available until 10:00pm PT two days before a scheduled event, unless otherwise specified. Special events may have an earlier event registration deadline and will include such notice on their event postings on our website. If you register for an event and receive an error message or are unsure if something is wrong, send an email to finance@pmi-oc.org as soon as possible. Please click here for more information.

 
Q: What if I missed the time period for online regsitration?
A: If you missed the time period for online registration, you may  be able to "walk in" and pay the "walk in" fee at the door.  If an event reaches maximum capacity before the scheduled date of the event, online registration will close early.  Please click here for more information.

 Q: How do I cancel my registration for an event?
A: To cancel an event, please notify PMI-OC by sending an email to registration_cancel@pmi-oc.org.  All cancellations are subject to an administrative fee.  Please click here for more information.

Q: If I cancel my registration will I be able to obtain a refund?
A: Cancellations of registrations for chapter events will be honored and refunds granted when the cancellation notice is received on or before the deadline for registration of the specified event.  All cancellations are subject to an administrative fee . Please click here for more information.

Q: Will I be able obtain a refund if I notify PMI-OC after an event has passed?
A: We will not be able to accommodate this request.  Please notify PMI-OC.org at by sending an email to registration_cancel@pmi-oc.org  prior to the event.  Please click here for more informtion.

Q: How do I become a member of PMI-OC?
A: To join visit the PMI Membership page on the PMI Global website. Follow the links for the appropriate type of membership (Individual, Student or Retiree). Once you have added the Membership to your cart, select the Orange County chapter by browsing the communities through the link at the bottom of the PMI Marketplace screen.

Q: What are PDUs?
A: PDUs are short for "Professional Development Units".  They are used  to measure professional activities for the purpose of PMP certification renewal.  More information is available here.

Q: Does PMI-OC offer classes for PMP certification?
A: Yes, there are classes offered by the PMI-OC chapter for the purpose of PMP certification.   PMI-OC offers a PMP Prep class several times a year.  

Q: What is a SIG?
A: A SIG is an abbreviation for Special Interest Groups.  Being part of a SIG allows members to network with specialized groups/professions within project management.  Examples of SIGs include Information Systems, Risk Management and Human Resources.  More information about SIGs can be found at www.pmi.org/GetInvolved/Pages/PMI-Components-and-Communities.aspx

Q: I am a volunteer, how do I get my PMI-OC sponsored expenses reimbursed?
A: To obtain reimbursement, you must submit your expenses by completing an expense reimbursement form, corresponding receipts and approval from the sponsoring Board Director. Please click here for more information.

Q: How do I register?
A: Beginning in January of 2009, PMI-OC has implemented a new registration process that requires an id and is more efficient. Click here for the step by step instructions.

 Q: How do I register my Dinner Meeting PDUs with PMI?
A: It's a Category 3 PDU.  Follow these steps.
1. Log on to www.PMI.org
2.  Click on View PDUs (left nav, middle of the page).
3.  Under "PDU Activity as of (todays date is shown)",  click on Report PDU
4.  Under "PDU Activity", select Category 3 Registered Education Provider from the drop down menu
5.  Under "Activity Type" select Find an Activity & click NEXT
6.  Enter "Provider Number:"  C026, and "Activity Number" type the activity number, or the date of the activity
7.  Click "Search" to display the activity.   Click on the activity number and you'll be at Step 3.
8.  Enter the date started, date completed, and check the boxes in the two questions.  Click NEXT.
9.  Verify PDU's, click to Agree this claim is accurate.
10. Click Submit.

 

Q: How do I access the Member's Only Area?
A: Some of the new features do not show up until you log in.

Q: What is my User Name?
A: Your user name is the member number assigned to you by PMI Global when you joined. If you do not know your member number, you can look it up by logging into www.PMI.org.

Q: What is my Password?
A: Your initial password was created by combining the first letter of your first name with the first 5 letters of your last name (ex. Jon Sounders would be jsound). If you have previously logged into the web site but have forgotten your password, select "Forgot your Password?" on the logon screen and type in your email address to have it sent to you.

Q: Where does my contact information come from?
A: PMI-OC receives your contact information from PMI Global. In order to change our information you need to change theirs. Please note that there can be up to a month delay in the delivery of the data from PMI Global.
